Vampire Bat Cozy Giveaway

I have always loved Halloween. It is so hard for me to exactly pin-point down my most favorite costume. Pirate girl was up there, but no one got to really see it that year because it was so cold, so I looked more like Light Brown Plaid Coat Girl instead. I think I was a witch for about 6 years after that.

I can definitely tell you the worst costume! Mom comes out of her room with and was like pick: Ghost or Punk Rocker. I had no idea what a punk rocker was, so Mom tried to pull it off as if I was one of the Jem! girls, but once we were done I thought I looked more like one of the bad guys from Jem!--ya know, The Misfits girls. Not pleased, nope nope.

I think the year I was a teddy bear was the best, cutest yet. It was just one of those plastic sheet shirt costumes, but Mom did me up real good with face paint and pig tails. I think it was some girly version of a Teddy Ruxpin. I thought I had a photo of it already uploaded to the net, but oh well, guess not.

Besides just reminiscing about my favorite holiday, wanted to tell you that Flapper Girl Blog is giving away 3 limited edition (just for Halloween) coffee cozies. She wants to hear about your favorite costumes too. Check it out, by clicking here.

Savvy N Sassy September Ribbon Kit Creations

I'm a wee bit late on blogging this month's projects using the SavvyNSassy September ribbon kit. It's already sold out, but there are tons of gorgeous ribbon kits in the shop.

Before joining the SavvyNSassy Design Team, I gotta admit I was not a card-maker. I'm still getting the hang of it. I really prefer making the mini-type cards. The downside to that is finding envelopes to mail them in. I am kinda proud of myself since one of my resolutions for this year was to send more handmade cards to people.

I'm way too overly addicted to greens in my scrapping. I just need to clean off my desk of all things green so I can get out of this color rut. I adore the DCWV Green Stack (Thanks again, Angi!) and want to horde it all. It is so much fun to create with.

This one is a little journaling tag. I'm digging this color combo too, the teals and the cherry reds together. Probably because I can't wait to see my slowly coming-along renovated bathroom all done up in it! Don't tell Katie, but ummm, I still haven't finished these for the HOGS tag swap yet. Still got 22 to make by Wednesday, ugh!

And surprise, surprise! I even did some layouts!

This olive green ribbon was probably my fave from the kit. I really wish you could see this layout in person. It just doesn't photograph well. I think this is one of my favorite layouts I've ever done. First time playing with Hambly too!

I completely heart this Cosmo Cricket paper I used as my background. It's from the Dutch Girl line. I really had fun combining colors I would hardly ever combine together for this layout. Got some Close to my Heart paper all the way from probably 2004(?) used from my stash with this layout!

And if you're wondering, what's with the owl page about a baby?! (Because that is something that personally bugs me, just to use an owl or saying for no real reason, but anyways...) Sam's first sounds were breathy, little whoooo sounds like a baby owl. Apparently, that is weird for our baby, because at the doctors' I was asked if English was our first language we use in our home. Most American babies made hard constanant sounds like nono, dada, or tata.

Thanks for looking and if you are intested in my tutorial on how to make this paper pieced card below:

Sam the Gnome

I love gnomes. I'm a gnome fanatic! I used to watch the cartoon David the Gnome as a kid. I think that is what started the Gnome Love. Cliff is freaked out by gnomes, otherwise I'd make sure the neighbors hate us more and deck the entire yard out in gnomes. Well... guess what I got in the mail today?
Do not even try to tell me that is NOT the cutest thing ever! I have a gnome baby and you don't! Nanna nanna boo boo! Don't you just wanna kiss his little old-man looking self. We have little nicknames for one another and Sam has always been the wizard or the gnome. Now he really is!

Nadia, of Nadcraft on Etsy, made this darling hat for my Sammy. I had made her a banner and avatar for her Etsy shop and she offered to make this up for me. The little card that came along with the hat even said, "For Baby Gnome"! So frickin' cute!

Of course, as sibling rivalry usually goes, now Dylan wants one. He behaved well though. I think Dylan was as excited as me over the gnome hat. I was running through the house singing GNOMIE GNOMIE! When I put the hat on Sam, he started doing his little nose crinkle-smiley-snorty kinda laugh. He never tried to take it off or nothing, yay!

The hat was made to be tied under the chin, but Sam kept trying to eat it, as he does with most things lately. It stays on just fine tied behind his big ol' head.

So, yup, Sam will be a gnome for Halloween and I'm thrilled. I think I'll skip out on a beard and say he is a gnome-baby, unless you have an idea for me how to construct it where Sam won't eat or tear it. I got this gnome bib from ColbyLaneDesigns on Etsy for him to wear as part of the costume. Add a little long sleeve blue shirt and some pants and I'm set.

Nadscraft is so super sweet to do have made this hat for me. You should check out her shop, http://nadscraft.etsy.com . She is very talented with felt crafting. See that little cake above? FELT! So cute, right?! There are even complete kits with everything included to make these felt creations too. Thanks again, Nadia. :)
